Turbulence in Galaxy Clusters – Impact of the Hydrodynamical Scheme

Download Presentation

In this talk, we present a new implementation of the Meshless Finite Mass (MFM) hydro-solver in the cosmological simulation code in OpenGadget3. MFM allows for enhanced mixing and more accurate evolution of subsonic turbulence, a fundamental feature shaping the Intra Cluster Medium (ICM) in galaxy clusters.

Using the MFM technique, we conduct zoom-in simulations of galaxy clusters, with a focus on the analysis of turbulence within the ICM. Our results demonstrate the advantages of incorporating the MFM hydrodynamical scheme, revealing an increased presence of structures at smaller scales and higher turbulent pressure support.  These findings shed new light on the complex dynamics at play within galaxy clusters, providing valuable insights into their overall evolution.
